Labeling

I won’t always talk about topics that are political, but I do want to talk about our culture and topics that are relevant.  Unfortunately, politics has entered every arena from medicine to education to entertainment.  I want to ask better questions so we can keep the conversation going.  We need to be cautious, be thoughtful, be critical thinkers, and speak up when we see things not going well.  I may not like your opinion, but that doesn’t mean I am going to label you.  Sometimes we use labels to distract people from the actual argument. Labeling transfers the conversation to avoid the actual disagreement. If you disagree with me, let me know! But please do so without labeling me.  When someone labels you, let them defend their argument first because that label is theirs and not yours. You have the power to choose respect.  I will respect you because 1) you are a respectable person created in the image of God, and 2) I choose to be a respectable person.

Quote Of The Day

“Be brave enough to choose yourself even when others don’t.”

Sometimes we look around the world for validation.  If you rely on others for that validation, you are always going to need someone else to tell you that you matter! Make choices for yourself because you really do matter.  You have to choose who you want to be, because “I am responsible for me!” I am going to make choices for myself because I want to be the best version of myself.  I tell kids all the time that I have never been drunk or high in my life.  The reasoning is that I chose myself over peer pressure.  I chose who I wanted to be.  I am not trying to put you down for the choices you make; I am encouraging you to choose yourself and the person you want to be.

Aaron Rodger’s Great Points

Aaron Rodgers is an NFL quarterback for the Greenbay Packers.  He is unvaccinated for covid, and he recently tested positive for covid. He worked with his doctors, did research, and decided for himself that he was not going to be vaccinated. His reasoning included that he is allergic to ingredients in multiple of the vaccines, other vaccines had blood clot issues, and that he values being a father.  Aaron Rodgers worked with his doctors to implement an alternative method for immunity, which didn’t work either.

According to Aaron Rodgers, the NFL knew he was not vaccinated.  He explained that he has certain protocols that he must follow as an ‘unvaccinated player.’  He undergoes testing every single day and then has to wait in his car for 30 minutes until the results are back.  His vaccinated teammates are only tested once a week and are immediately allowed into the facility while awaiting their test results.  The week before Aaron Rodgers got covid, two of his fully vaccinated teammates got covid!  They had the shot, but they were not fully immune either!  Aaron Rodgers even said that due to the strict protocols and his lifestyle, his teammates are the only people he is around.  He stated he may have even gotten covid from one of his fully vaccinated teammates!

Aaron Rodgers stated that the NFL and the media are creating a culture of shame, guilt, and ridicule in order to force people to get vaccinated.  They are basically saying they will make your life hard until you get it.  I think that is a great point! What happened to HIPAA laws and personal medical privacy? I agree with Aaron Rodger’s statement:

“Personal health decisions should be a private and not through-the-ringer matter…Personal autonomy is a right.”

I stand with Aaron Rodgers, vaccination should be your choice!  Medical decisions should be your choice.  Should the vaccine be mandated? My answer is no, it shouldn’t.

Time For A Name Change?

I think we need to start calling the vaccine what it is, a shot.  These shots are not vaccines, they are treatments. It has been proven that being vaccinated against covid does not stop you from getting or spreading covid. The covid vaccine is not a true vaccine that provides immunity to an illness, it's a shot. So let’s start calling it what it is. This is not about health anymore.  It is not about protecting people; because if it was, we would be headed back to the drawing board to come up with a better vaccine instead of doing booster shot after booster shot. What is the big picture here?  Why is it that anyone with opposing views to the media is labeled as spreading “misinformation?”
